The Philippine Dental Association was eventually formed thanks to the Act 593, which the first dental law in the Philippines. This made way for Dr. Gregorio Ruiz Mateo to become the precursor in the practice of dentistry in the country. Most dentists in the Philippines would know that Dr. Mateo was the first to apply local anesthesia in tooth extractions. This revolution in the early stages of Philippine dentistry gave way for the development of the practice.
